Devil in the Details
This was a recap of the Kitchenaid Senior PGA championship in Harbor Shores Michigan. this event is always fun to shoot and capture the emotion from some of the most legendary faces in the game of golf. I was the primary shooter capturing the action from on and off the course. this weekend was extremely challenging after being on the road for several weeks before. the pace of the tournament was a relief and showed why I love the game of golf.
different angles
golf has been captured on film for years and in so many ways. My main goal is to get different angles and tell different stories. this was a challenging project shot for the PGA portraying the difficulty of the iconic 13th hole at Valhalla Country Club in Lousiville Kentucky. This social clip enhanced our goal of giving viewers a new kind of appreciation for the golf course.
in the action
one of my favorite pieces from the PGA Championship, Mic’d up with Lakin Gross gave our audience an inside-the-rope view of a major championship. This was a surreal moment when i was recording uncut audio of the candid conversations between lakin and his wife(Caddie).
Raw and uncut
Standing at my post on the 18th hole waiting for Xander to come up and win his first Wanamaker, i captured this moment of a kid wearing the glove that he was given earlier in the day. this moment made me realize the importance of what we do and why we do it. its to tell a story and give the audience a glimpse of what it is like to be a fan
Caputre first, edit second
When shooting for social, it is vital to shoot with the edit in mind. this edit was done in a quick turnaround situation and turned out to be one of my favorites. With very minimal emotion this edit relied on the music and the edit in order to capture the aura of the competition.
give the audience a reason to watch
Remote editing is one of my favorite forms of working, it is so challenging while also so rewarding. I was given the opportunity to remote edit for the USA Ryder Cup team while they were competing in Rome. My schedule was almost 24 hours working while the team on the ground was shooting and then publishing during the work day here in the States. My favorite memory of this project was meeting the team for the first time back in the States after the Ryder cup ended.
all shapes and sizes
the majority of work i do lives on social media like Instagram and twitter; however, sometimes i need to be flexible and be able to pivot for wide screen formats. this video needed to be published on the pga website and sent to media outlets.
history in the making
My all-time favorite golf moment happened at Oak Hill during the 2023 PGA championship when i followed pga low champion, Michael block. Block went extremely viral this week and had an amazing week. This moment of him walking to the 18th green was truly a memorable moment.
quality over quantity
after a long day on the course, creating revisions for approval is the last thing you want to do. To make this a great piece it came down to working on a timeline and using my skills to deliver this idea to table.
